Week 5-6 Assignment

Shot 1, Contrast- For this shot I took two different short videos of my dog. In the first video, he was simply laying down on the floor, while in the second he can be seen running after a small dog toy. For contrast, its supposed to show two different shots, one differing greatly from the other. I chose these two videos because they show a difference between when my dog is resting peacefully versus when he's up and running around.

Shot 2, Parallelism- For this shot I took two videos, one of my mom waving a foam football in the air, and the other of my dog jumping up to get what is supposed to be a different football, but in a different place (The same football had to be used). Parallelism is supposed to show two scenes happening at the same time, although in different locations. I chose to use this for Parallelism as two balls were being waved, but my dog only went after one in a different location.

Shot 3, Symbolism- In this video I choose to take two shots. One was of my dog with his ears perked, while the other showed a short recording of Loki's helmet. Symbolism is supposed to connect two different things and show how they are connected. I chose to use this recording for Symbolism because my dog's large ears are supposed to resemble the horns on Loki's helmet, thus the reason we named him Loki.

Shot 4, Simultaneity- For this shot I took four different shots, although mainly it was simply alternating between a recording done in my house and one done a little further outside. Simultaneity is supposed to have two different settings, alternating between the two in order to build suspense. I used this shot for Simultaneity because it shows two different locations, and the brightness of the outside contrasts from the almost eerie and shadow filled room I shot in to build suspense.

Shot 5, Leitmotif- In this video I chose to use four different shots. First, I took a video of my little brother, simply staring at the camera, and then it cut to my dog, back to my brother, and back to Loki. Leitmotif is supposed to have a reoccurring song, or music, that is used to constantly refer to a character. Although not done, when I add the music I plan to put upbeat music when the shot is on my dog, and slower music when it's on my brother. I used this shot to show a difference in characters, and to establish a beginning template for when the sound is eventually added and fixed.
