Week 3-4 Q3
Week 3 assignment
For my assignment, I commented on Chiara's blog, and Zoe Orgass' blog. For Chiara's, I commented on the Dolly shot, Extreme Long shot, the Point Of View shot, and the Cameo shot.
1. The dolly shot was well done, as the camera didn't move very much, despite having to move to take the video. This made me feel as if I was moving forward, or as if the moment at hand was important in some way.
2. The extreme long shot managed to keep the subject in frame, while also showing the sky. This shot made me feel very small, but also entranced with the setting, and what was happening.
3. The point of view shot was steadily filmed, and also made me feel as if I was looking through the camera's eyes, like I was the one filming it, and not somebody else.
4. The cameo shot made the subject appear like the most important thing in the shot, and forced you to look at them, as opposed to their surroundings. This made me feel as if the subject was very important, and if in a movie, contained some sort of vital plot twist.
For the second part of my assignment, I commented on Zoe's Point of View shot, Full shot, Low Angle shot, and Reaction shot.
1. The point of view shot really made me feel as if I was looking through the dog's eyes, as the camera consistently stayed the same, and didn't move a lot. It also stayed on the eye level a dog would see at.
2. The full shot was very well done, as it allowed the subject to be seen completely. This made me feel as if the dog was the star of the video, and that the background was almost unnecessary.
3. The low angle worked out well too, because the subject didn't look down, and it made the subject look bigger. This made me feel like the subject was a vital part of the video, and the most important in that moment.
4. The reaction shot showed the dog turning it's head, in response to an exclamation of some sort. This interested me, as I wanted to know what the dog was reacting to, and urged me to continue watching.
